Erdogan discuss with Trump bilateral ties in NATO summit

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump held talks on Tuesday during the NATO summit in The Hague, focusing on both regional developments and matters concerning their countries' relations.

According to official statements, President Erdogan expressed approval for the Israel-Iran ceasefire, which he said was "achieved through US President Trump's efforts." He also called for a permanent resolution to the conflict in Gaza, urged progress toward peace, and stressed the need for diplomatic engagement regarding the situation in Ukraine.

In the meeting, Erdogan emphasized the significant opportunities for collaboration between Türkiye and the United States, particularly in the fields of energy, defense, and investment. He noted that enhancing this partnership could be instrumental in reaching the ambitious goal of $100 billion in bilateral trade.

The two leaders also reaffirmed their shared commitment to reinforcing NATO’s role as a strong deterrent force, highlighting their countries’ positions as key contributors within the alliance.
