Czech Republic Not to Participate in U.S. Arms Deal for Ukraine

(MENAFN) The Czech Republic has decided not to participate in the current U.S. arms procurement initiative intended for Ukraine, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced on Tuesday.

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed a deal with NATO countries to support Ukraine through coordinated weapons purchases. This pact involves nations including Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Canada, which will collectively fund large-scale acquisitions from U.S. arms manufacturers and ensure the shipments are delivered directly to Kiev.

Regarding the Czech stance, Fiala told local outlet Publico, "The Czech Republic is focusing on other projects and ways to help Ukraine."

Later the same day, the Ministry of Defense reinforced the prime minister’s viewpoint to media, confirming it has no intention to join the weapons procurement program.
